Beardsgiving

Beardsgiving is a holiday celebrated on the last day of November, in which one gives thanks for all the luscious beards grown over the course of no-shave November. The term was coined at Cornell University, by a student aiming to ensure that proper respect was paid to those who dedicated themselves to the cause of beard.
Happy Beardsgiving! Your scruff is looking mighty fine today.

Beersgiving

Beersgiving is often referred to as the most magical time of the year. Usually celebrated the day before Thanksgiving when friends visit the place of their upbringing and go out to the bar before having to see their parents, grandparents, uncles/aunts, cousins, and other individuals who may be visiting. This night of debauchery typically leads to the next day's Thanksgiving being significantly mellowed and a time for rest and reflection of what truly to be thankful for.
Tom came home from college to celebrate Beersgiving last night, then upchucked all over the turkey at the Thanksgiving dinner the next day.

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.
