The school motto of the University of Arizona. In 1926, after Arizona Wildcats star football quarterback John Salmon was involved in a horrific car accident, he was hospitalized and visited daily by his coach Pop McKale. On October 18, 1926, Salmon spoke his last words to his coach before dying, "Tell the team to bear down." Coach McKale told the Wildcats team as Salmon wished before a big game, and Arizona wound up winning. It became the school's motto shortly afterwards.

The phrase itself basically means to be strong and smart. It has nothing to do with any large carnivorous animal.
Dude 1: "Bear down!"

Dude 2: "Wait, why would Wildcats bear down? Wildcats aren't bears! They stole it from Chicago!"

Dude 1: "Probably because the phrase has absolutely nothing to do with bears in the first place, it means to exert strength and intelligence. And Arizona has been using it since 1926. Chicago didn't start using until nearly twenty years later!"

Dude 2: "Oh........."

Get the bear down mug.
A phrase used during midterms to indicate the need to really "bear down."
It's midterms time, people have to "bear down," study hard, and get to work. It's "bear down for midterms."

Get the bear down for midterms mug.
Originated at the University of Arizona

Very similar to what you all may know as the Great American Challenge. You assemble teams of 4 or 5 and race to complete a 5th of hard alcohol of your teams choice, 30 pack of beer, 8th of marijuana, 2 large pizzas and a 100 piece puzzle.

The best way to do is to record the times in which each team finishes their 30 pack and wait for each team to finish. Then typically the team has their 8th of marijuana rolled into individual blunts for each team member and every member from each team smokes together then, the team that first finished their 30 pack first may begin to eat their pizza while other teams must wait accordingly to the amount of time they finished behind the team that first finished their beer.

The best way to do this is to have a small group of people to judge and keep track of the times in which the alcohol is finished. And it keeps everything in order because oh boy do things get sloppy. Props to those who can finish.
