plural = bećarci
A type of a Croatian folk song originating from the region of Slavonija.
The meanings of bećarci are mostly ambiguous with a hidden, usually dirty sex related or offensive hidden meaning.
Typically guys would sing lyrics either offending or hitting onto girls, and girls would return with another lyric either offending or rejecting that guy(or in some cases positively replying) (Oh jelena spread your knees,
no point in being so clenched) to which a woman can reply with: (oh you little, don't brag too much,
I gave you, but you couldn't)
Bećarci are a fun song made for that. There is no misogyny nor misandry as it is purely for the purpose of humor
On classier events bećarci are stil sung, but in a more censored and polite way, mostly singing about the harvest and patriotism (Oh Slavonija, while your name lasts, we'll cherish your customs)
Bećarci consist of 2 lines, both being 10 syllables long, with a setup in the first and punchline in the second. You can sing almost anything as a bećarac as long as that form is met, and both lines rhyme, either inside themselves, or between themselves.
Bećarac is sung by singing the first line 2 times, and then second line 2 times. There is also Slavonsko kolo (Slavonijan circle), which is similar to bećarac, but the first line is being sung once, while the second one is repeated.

Naš bećarac svi pjevati znaju,
to je himna u našemu kraju.
(Everyone knows how to sing our bećarac,
it's an anthem in our region)
