Advicenators

A free advice website, mainly directed to teens, that allows users to create and customize their very own advice column and ask for personal advice anonymously. Users tend to refer to themselves as being an Advicenator or a group of Advicenators.

My friend and I just signed up at Advicenators to start giving out advice.

advicefly

A person who flits from one source of advice to another, not to genuinely weigh different perspectives, but to collect opinions until they find one that aligns with their preexisting beliefs. Like a butterfly sampling flowers, they appear open to new ideas but are really just seeking validation. If they don’t hear what they want, they proceed with their original plan anyway.

Paola asked everyone if riding her motorcycle late at night in the freezing cold was a bad idea. She nodded at their warnings, shivered at the thought, even said, ‘Yeah, you’re right’—then immediately grabbed her keys and rode off like a human popsicle in the making

Sarah asked ten people if she should text her ex. Nine said no, one said yes. Guess what she did? Total advicefly move.

Advicefly

A person who actively seeks advice from multiple sources—not necessarily for validation, but out of a deep-seated need to gather perspectives before inevitably following their original plan. Like a butterfly sampling flowers, they genuinely engage with different viewpoints, but their course of action was set before they even started asking. Whether they’re searching for reassurance, new insights, or just enjoying the process of hearing different takes, the result remains the same: in the end, they’ll do what they intended all along.

"Snow, the advicefly that he is, spent a week asking everyone if quitting his office job to become a DJ was a good idea. He listened, took notes, genuinely considered their input—then handed in his resignation and dropped a mix called ‘Two Weeks’ Notice (Extended Remix)!"
