Praise which has no value/of less value than had it come from a more esteemed person.
I.e. when Donny Osmond gave out the first ten of Strictly Come Dancing 2014 as a guest judge, it wasn't the same as receiving the first ten of the series from one of the permanent judges.

When you take a sip of a drink and it goes down the wrong way, causing excessive coughing and the inability to speak. Often happens to Donna (referred to jokingly as “Donny” by her sons), usually when drinking water, which is who the term was coined after.

Boffin
British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”
Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
