Scare Ball

The other term for the Sun. The Scare Ball makes everything irritatingly hot, stirs up the cray with living creatures and critter humans, causes more turbulent air which shakes everyone’s snacks around on aeroplanes, does nothing good for migraines, and has freaked out past generations when it goes all eclipse-y.

The Scare Ball is hella bright today, and it’s making the local methheads even more animated. We should avoid interaction with the Scare Ball and stay inside with the blinds closed, like the higher powers intended when they created scientists who figured out window coverings.

A mysterious looking person, often male, with sharp, arching eyebrows and jester-like attire. Usually has to do with the local mischief and/or crimes.

“I saw a scarabeechay last night on the sidewalk and turned around immediately”

Dire-sounding "supplies are limited" claims to get you to act, buy, create, etc.

Telling a junk-food junkie that "There's a worldwide shortage of chocolate" or "Potato-chip companies are scrambling to keep up with demand" may indeed sometimes prompt said unwise indulgers to temporarily cut back on their intake of said empty-calorie-laden comestibles, but once they find out about the bogusness of said "scarecity", they'll likely just go right back to gluttonously stuffing their faces with sugary/salty crap!
