Disparaging term used by industry staff and others to describe persons who ride on buses for fun and as a hobby. Related terms "to crank", "cranking" and "cranked". Usually derogatory and used by some bus company staff. Known from London in the 1970s and widespread by the 1980s. Compares to the railway-enthusiast term "gricer".
"You going for a crank this weekend?"
"Yeah - I'm cranking the 56 on Sunday; it's the only route I haven't cranked."

Kelly: Nah, dude, I'm just busy trying to get this thing off me, but it keeps forcing me to Crank That Soulja Boy, and therefore I am unable to. I'm sorry!

When you have a tank top and you decide to crop it into a crop top, you are left with a cropped tank top. Hence the name, crank top.
