Any period of time sufficient for preparing for combat, or any situation, including but not limited to the activities of surveying the area; making note of anything capable of being used as a weapon; setting up diversions or surprises; making a plan for exploiting any and all of the opponent(s)'s weaknesses; clearing the area of children, old ladies, war veterans, etc. who might prove an unfortunate distraction, and so on. Often used for the sake of discussion in the case of Batman, particularly through matching him against various other fictional characters, be they hero or villain, Marvel or DC, Alien or Predator, Garrus or Wrex, within the media of film, tv, video games, novels, music, short stories, poetry, tall tales, urban legend, or ethnocultural myth. It is a commonly-held assertion that, in the absence of prep time, Batman would find himself on the losing side of many an engagement, particularly if his opponent was endowed with superpowers, magical abilities, or highly-advanced technology. Thus, many a frequenter of online discussion forums, more often if they are a fan of a fictional character OTHER than Batman, has thought it necessary/amusing to post a topic asking other frequenters of said forum whether they believed Batman might lose to a given opponent in martial confrontation if he had no time to prepare for that encounter. This is, of course, an improperly conceived question, because there is always prep time when you're the goddamn Batman.

Gym Preps can be defined as anyone who wears Hollister shirts, blue jeans, and an American Eagle baseball cap to the gym to work out. Gym preps are low on the peg of life seeing as they obviously weren't invited to the two girls party. Instead they choose to come to the gym and work on their biceps. Gym Preps will spend almost %100 of their gym time in the bicep section. They will most often be doing standing up exercises with the curl bar. Gym Preps are not strong with the exception of their biceps which are noticeable underneath their extremely tight hollister henley, and usually aren't accompanied by anyone.You rarely get a look at their face because it is concealed by an American Eagle baseball cap. If you observe a gym prep from the the time he walks into the gym to the time he leaves only about three minutes will have elapsed. (Just enough time to rest between sets of squats.) He will walk in, look around for a minute or two then walk over to the curl bar rack. He'll pick up the heaviest one, see if he can do it then set it down when he relizes he can't. He'll continue this process until he finds a suitable one. He will do eight reps, set it down and then walk out of the gym.

A high school mixer at St Joes Prep High School in North Philly. Specifically for incoming freshman, the prep mixer is a dance for prep boys and surrounding sister schools. All other boys schools are jealous they can't go because all the hot girls talk about it.

The person in the restaurant kitchen that does all the work that the chefs cannot be bothered with. In charge of cutting, slicing, and any other way to prepare the food for the real work. An integral and necessary member of the kitchen, but for the most part ignored.
