The Beer's Prayer

Our Lager,

Which art in barrels

Hallowed be thy drink.

Thy will be drunk,

I will be drunk,

At home as in the tavern.

Give us this day our foamy head

and forgive us our spillages

as we forgive those that spill against us

and lead us not into incarceration.

But deliver us from hang-overs,

for thine is the beer,

The bitter and the lager

forever and ever

Barmen!
I sit down and pray The Beer's Prayer before I go out every night.

The buck stops here

Final responsability; "The responsability is mine". Situation where something really is up to you, and you can be fairly praised or blamed for your act or choice.
(That is a expression commonly used in free will philosophical discussion)
Caracter determines fate, but I can change my caracter, so the buck stops here after all.

The Brass

Plural Noun

Military Slang

Used by common soldiers as an unspecific collective term for people of much higher rank. (the ones making the decisions)

Can also be applied to a police force.
To me, this whole operation seems useless, but if it's what the brass says, we have to do it.

The Beacon School

A mixed public school located in Surrey, England where the girls skirts are higher than their life expectancy, the teachers shag their students, the toilets are used as brothels, and the year 7s think they’re top of the school. The students are either suspiciously smart or can barely pick up a pencil. The teachers are certified nonces who don’t get paid enough and it shows. Most people fail their GCSEs because the grade boundaries are ridiculously high. The toilets look like they haven’t seen any kind of cleaning products since 1985 and to top it all of, the school is ran by a nosy elf who tries too hard and has personal space issues.
person 1: that kid just stole some crappy makeup from asda
person 2: probably goes to the beacon school

a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush

This expression means that it is better to have an advantage or opportunity that is certain than having one that is worth more but is not so certain.

"A bird in the hand," is yours, and it's not going anywhere unless you let it go. But if you leave it and go for "two in the bush," there is no guarantee you'll catch them, you might end up with nothing in the end.

In essence, don't be greedy and stick with what good things you already have, instead of going after something you'll probably never get.
Bob: "I think I'm gonna quit my job..another firm is going to offer me a better job.."

Joe: "Are you sure? You probably shouldn't quit unless you know you're gonna get in for sure. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush."

(Weeks later)

Joe: "So how was the interview?"

Bob: "Idk not so good...i don't think the boss is gonna let me come back either..."

Joe: "You're an idiot.."
