Namely, a guy who spends all of his free time sitting/lying around and soaking up sports information (stats, possible trades, etc.), often, though certainly not always, while drinking beers. Often such characters have a hostile, macho attitude, making them less agreeable than the average couch potato. Very common in the northeast USA, and USA in general.
