Emotional Hedge

Placing a wager or betting currency against a sports team in which you root for. Placing an “emotional hedge” means that love and fandom for the particular team that you are betting against outweighs your value of and possession of money. If your bet wins, you are still unhappy due to your team losing, however can look on the bright side due to a slight or large gain of wealth. Placing this type of bet usually only associates with the most die hard fans of their team. Additionally, this bet is most prevalent when odds of your team winning are at their highest therefore you can profit the most in case (god forbid) utter heartbreak occurs, and they blow the game.
Boys, the Falcons are up big and it would really suck if they blew this Super Bowl. We better place an emotional hedge just in case the Patriots come back and break our hearts.
