splinter trip

When you're planning a trip with friends, narrow down your itinerary and agree upon it, and then upon arrival at your destination one friend announces they have scheduled an additional leg. This was done covertly and is to the destination you had previously and jointly decided against.

Once arrived at said additional destination, your friend Facebook posts countless photos intended to solicit envy.
"Hey John, you're not going to believe this... Jeff scheduled a splinter trip to Mendoza, when we agreed to keep the trip just to Buenos Aires!"

Splinter Cell Style

Doing something with stealth, which is usually dangerous, or difficult, and completed in a stylish manner. Derived from the popular videogame Splintercell, which is stealth based.
When I snuck out of school, I did it Splintercell style. I would tell you specifically, but it would compromise the mission and you would become a risk.

Splinter Cell:Double Agent PC version

A half-assed Splinter Cell game that has more bugs in it than a decomposing rat has maggots.

Splinter Group

A group of extremists who have broken from the state, somtimes the military, to form there own paramilitary organisation. They use terrorism/guerilla warfare to fight for thier cause
I.R.A has lots of splinter groups, and there are lots of communist/marxist splinter groups as well.

splinter cell

An agent who has the freedom to eliminate any threat he perceives in any manner he sees fit.

Usually such agents are covered by "plausible deniability" - the agent is told what his job is, but not through the normal chain of command, so that the orders are not recorded. This way, if the agent is captured or killed, the government who sent the agent can claim that he was a rogue agent, acting without official orders or permission.
