Re-claimed umbrella term used to describe the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender/Transsexual and general non-heterosexual communities. Queer is the opposite of Straight.
The word is becoming more acceptable than ‘Gay’ especially for homosexual woman and bisexuals who often object to being called’ gay’ which is used more often to describer gay men. It is still often used (just as ‘gay’ is) as an insult to queer people, but is taken with a pinch of salt these days.

Get the queermug. Phrase used to annoy someone. Not meant as a slur on homosexuals, just as a way to irritate your friends. Most effective if 'queer' is said quietly, so only the victim can hear it, and even if (s)he does, (s)he's not entirely sure you did as it is so out of context.

Get the ... queermug. A queere is a misspelling of queer (gay) in reference to the popular slogan of the John Deere tractor brand: Nothing Runs Like a Deere. In order to spoof the slogan, replace Deere with queer for the rhyme, then add an "e" to the end of queer to complete the satire.
