To unintentionally change the observable characteristics of something, by the actions performed to make an observation. Derived from the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle.

Design Engineer: "Why did you report that my board's 12v rail drops out under such a low current load? My rail does NOT sag when the board is installed in any of our products. How are you testing this?"

Test Engineer: "I'm using a huge giant solenoid to make/break the cooling fan's power contact, that's the only way to override the software's fan control. Since it's a 12v solenoid, I figured I'd just source its current from the board. All I gotta do is turn on the fan, and your board eats shit. It's a tiny little fan, why did you use such a pussy-ass voltage regulator?

Design engineer: "The fan isn't doing this, dumb shit. It's you, Heisenberging up my board with your solenoid. Find your own power supply for your horseshit test setup, better yet find me a real test engineer."
