muscle rock

A genre of music that could be considered a precursor to heavy metal. Sounds mostly like generic 70's hard rock (Foreigner, Foghat, etc) but imbued with fantasy, Norse mythology, and homoerotic gladiator themes. Has song titles like "We Accept the Challenge," "Steal Your Thunder," and "We Live to Rock."

The most well-known (and perhaps only) proponent of muscle rock is Jon Mikl Thor, who is also known for producing a string of terrible movies over the last 30 years.

Announcer: "And now, playing his 'muscle rock', is Jon Thor!"

*Audience goes quiet in disbelief as a 300 lb. beefcake runs out on stage in a sequined loincloth and cape.*

stoner rock

Stoner Rock is a loosely termed genre of music that has heavy guitar riffs that are somewhat repetitive and hypnotic. It's closest relatives would be blues, rock, hard rock and metal (of all types). The music is choppy, bassy and almost always distorted to some degree with different types of vocals, mostly male, which tend to blend and harmonize with the music. The guitars are often tuned to D or open D to get that low sound of metal-like distortion that the standard E tuning doesn't offer. The term "stoner rock" most likely comes from the perceived association of smoking marijuana and the fans of this music. However, smoking marijuana is not necessary to enjoy the music. These are some of the bands considered to be stoner rock: T-Rex, Kyuss, Monster Magnet, Wolfmother, Black Sabbath, Fu Manchu, QOTSA.

Stoner Rock is fun to play on the guitar because of its simplicity in basic form; playing it is as simple as tuning the low E of your guitar down to D, then play the low D, A and D strings (the top three) open. From there, you can hit the 3rd fret and noodle the 5th fret on the same three strings - start playing this, while allowing the open strings to resonate between strums on the 3rd and 5th frets - you're playing the beginnings of Stoner Rock!

Lean with it, rock with it 

1. A dance largely only associated with snap music. It consists of leaning to one side and snapping at the snap in the beat, then leaning to the other side and snapping on the beat. This dance is very infectious due to its simplicity and the fact that when a lot of people are doing it in unision it looks hot. Its also widely popular because it can be done to a multitude of different types of music, and the fact that it can be ad-libbed and still look hot.
2. A song by dem franchize boyz trying to capitalize on the popular dance. The group is hoping to monopolize an already existing phrase and claim it as theirs, similar to what Cash Money did with bling bling and stunna.

1. Thug 1: I really like that song "Laffy Taffy" cause its the only song that I actually know the dance to, I don't have to post up on the wall.
