Once it happens, the believers will then make up "proof" that the accused is part of the Illuminati. Sometimes, the accused or those related may be tortured or unnecessarily exorcised, further worsening the problem. If it becomes severe enough, it can become similar to the Spanish Inquisition or the Salem Witch Trials.
