railroad tracks

A slang term for the Captain (O-3) rank in the Army and Marines. The term comes from the Captain rank insignia, which is two wide bars connected by two thin cross-bars, resembling railroad tracks crossed by two railroad ties.

Damn, Lieutenant Carter used to be really cool, but ever since he pinned on his railroad tracks, he's just pulling rank and treating all his old buddies like shit.

horse-collar (tackle)

The horse-collar tackle (a.k.a. cowboy collar) is an American football maneuver in which a defender tackles another player by grabbing the back-inside of an opponent's shoulder pads from behind and yanking the player down. The technique is most closely associated with Pro Bowl former Dallas Cowboys and current Cincinnati Bengals star safety Roy Williams. This kind of tackle was banned from the NFL during the 2005 offseason; the rule forbidding it is often referred to in the press as "The Roy Williams Rule." The rule was expanded to include the back of the jersey collar in 2006.

The horse-collar (tackle) is particularly dangerous due to the awkward position of the player getting tackled, who will often fall backward in a twisting motion with one or both legs trapped under the weight of his body.

Trackies

Trackies are kids who participate in track, and probably cross country in high school. These kids are obsessed with their sport, and basically live to run. And then eat. And then sleep. And then run some more. And this is the wonderful cycle of a trackie's life.

Sometimes trackies would rather spend their saturday at a track or cross country meet than at a raging party. But they still have the same amount of fun because they're all so close and cool. Trackies are also often considered as ... well a cult.

Nick- Hey, should we invite Phil to the party tonight?
Sam- I don't know man, he's such a trackie, he might be at a meet.
Nick- But trackies are the most fun people around!

Jill- That was such a great run. Let's go get some pizza now.

Greg- Great idea, then I think I feel a nap coming on! It's what us trackies do!
