jeanophile

(n) People absolutely and completely addicted to denim. Often found browsing the newest Japanese and Italian brands sewn on vintage selvedge looms, and participating in fashion and denim centered communities, such as Superfuture where they discuss the intricacies of selvedge, indigo dyes, cotton quality, weight, and cut.

These people are most often engaged with their raw (untreated) denim, spending hundreds of dollars on a single pair to wear relentlessly for multiple months and no washes to achieve the desired look.

If you can name a brand, these people look down on it. Diesel? Rock and Republic? Seven for all mankind? True Religion? Jeanophiles wouldn't be caught dead with them. APC, Dior Homme 19cm, Dry Bones, Samurai, 45RPM, Flat Head, and Studio D'Artisan are more their type.
Guy 1: Jeez, man, why don't you wash those things already?
Guy 2: Naw, I'm only three months in on these. I'm not about to fuck up the fades.
Guy 1: What a jeanophile.

Like any jeanophile, my obsession won't stop until I get my hands on the new Rock & Republic's.

OMG Have you seen her closet? She's a total jeanophile, there's like 50 pairs of jeans in there!

Ian is a Japanophile

japanophile

A non-Japanese person who has a near-indescrimate love of all things from Japan. Japanophiles watch anime religiously, import overpriced novelty items from Japan, collect samurai swords, play untranslated Japanese video games, eat large amounts of Japanese food, rave about how Japanese culture is superior to every other culture on the planet, etc.

See also wapanese, egg, and otaku.
The japanophile believed that a samurai sword could cut through solid steel like a blowtorch through butter.

Japanophile

A Japanophile (or Nipponophile) is an individual with a love for or interest in all Japanese things. Some notable Japanophiles include Lafcadio Hearn and William Adams, the latter of which personally knew the illustrious Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu.

What Japanophilia does not indicate however is the merit of one's character; a truth that conflicts with the popular perception of Japanophiles as necessarily being a vocal minority of socially, intellectually, and hygienically inept youngsters. The term is often applied dubiously to these troubled youths by people who do not appear to distinguish between Japanophilia and infatuation with Japanese animation and/or other related niche hobbies and interests.
Tom enjoys the odd anime; he isn't exactly a Japanophile.

Shelly studies Japanese anthropology. She loves onsen, nihonshu, and Hokuto no Ken among other things. Shelly could be considered a Japanophile.

Beanophile

(Alternatively: Fabophile)

1. One who has a strong fondness or preference for beans.
2. One who enjoys productions starring the actor Sean Bean.
It's the mark of a true beanophile that one can differentiate between the various cultivars of Phaseolus vulgaris and recite all versions of "Beans, beans the musical fruit"

A: What's wrong with him?
B: Him? Oh, he's just a Beanophile. Has to watch his beloved actor's routinely ill-fated characters die in just about everything they're in
A: Ah, true

The striver is an interesting phenomenon that is seen across college campuses. In essence, the striver is an over-achiever who comes from a working or middle class family. He may be an immigrant. He may have been a slacker in HS who was "born again" into an academic wunderkind. Or he may just be an over-achiever who is keeping at it.

The striver is willing to sacrifice his social life at the expense of Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. The striver is the guy who stays at the library long after you are gone. The striver is the guy who takes 30 credits/semester and considers anything below an A/4.0 failure. The striver doesn't work on campus, he is too busy finding ways to pad his resume instead of working retail or workstudy. The striver lets his grades pay his education by applying to ten scholarships a year.

The striver is a future Soros/Fullbright/Rhodes/Gates/Marshall/etc. fellow. The striver lives to study. For the striver, their fun comes from the rewards they expect to receive in return for their diligence. Be it Law School, B-School, academia, or politics. The striver seeks to find the American Dream through academic success.
Anthony was a striver. He transfered from a TTT to an IVY and graduated in 2 years. He studied his ass off and went to Penn Law. He got a Biglaw offer. But lost it all because of an unmoderated mesasgeboard.

Successful strivers:
- Barack Obama
- Harold Koh

SkyPesos

Delta SkyMiles, also known as SkyPesos, is the frequent flyer program of Delta Airlines. It has a very poor value and hard to use.
- I'm trying to book an award flight to Paris, but I only have 70,000 SkyPesos
- Just forget about it, you don't have enough SkyPesos to fly anywhere.

Hate Draft

1. Select a player (real or fantasy) during a sports draft to spite or anger one or more of your opponents because they had intended to select him/her.

2. Select a player (real or fantasy) during a sport draft to put one or more of your opponents at a strategic disadvantage.
1. Billy hate drafted Chad OchoCinco because he knew Sam had wanted him since he is from Cincinnati. Billy already had plenty of players to fill that position but wanted to make sure Sam didn't get him.

2. Billy hate drafted Peyton Manning because he was the only good quarterback left and he knew Sam had been planning on drafting him.
