A distraption happens during the experience of checking your phone/computer for something specific, but falling into the trap of responding to a message or alert (or other distraption) that you find when you go to do your original task, which then gets you lost in a series of follow-on distraptions until you have forgotten what it was you originally wanted to do in the first place.
