A term used towards male characters and individuals who are so overwhelmingly manly that your own masculinity is absolutely *buried*, leaving you naught but a whimpering, swooning girl-child before them.

Originated in 4chan's /a/ board. A poster was describing his feelings towards the Fate/Stay Night character Archer, and mistyped "gay" as "gar".

"Episode 14 left me totally gar for Archer."
"You are gar for badasses, but gay for traps."

Derived from a typo ('gar' instead of 'gay') on 4chan's /a/nime image board when referring to Archer from the H-game and anime series "Fate Stay Night".

When a male character is so manly that otherwise straight male viewers find themselves attracted to him, they are said to be "GAR" for the character.

Nowadays "GAR" is used to describe characters that have reached the utmost levels of manliness. Said levels being judged looking at:

- The character's build (the more muscles he has the manlier he is).
- The ability to shout his attacks (GETTA BIIIIIIMU!, ROCKETTO PAAANCHI!, ATATATATATATA!!), though this is not necessarily a must.
- And finally the power to bring manly tears for the viewer (through either a speech brimming with awsomeness, a manly death, the end of the series, all of these combined etc.).

Dude, you're so gar for him...

An ancient family and/or order of ray-finned fish. Order Lepisosteiformes and family Lepisosteidae, which contains about seven species. They have a elongated snouts and bodies that are heavily armored by ganoid scales, and their jaws are filled with many small, sharp teeth. For some reason, their swim bladders can function as lungs and most of them occasionally come up for air. All gars are relatively large fish, but the alligator gar is the largest, sometimes even growing up to 9.8 feet in length. Gar flesh is edible and their hard skin and scales are often used by humans.

I was baffled when I found that the "gar" page on Urban Dictionary didn't have any definitions whatsoever relating to fish.
