weideln / geweidelt

The act of completely ignoring a question and instead answering a completely different question.
This is a kind of manipulation tactic that makes followers think you are an amazing person, when indeed you are just lie'ing to them.

This definition first sparked up in the german far right party "AfD" socialmedia comment sections, due to their candidate of chancellor usually not telling the truth or avoiding questions that she knew the audience wouldnt like the answer / contradicts her previous statements.

The word is made up of a verb'ified version of the chancellor candidates surname.
An example vor "weideln / geweidelt" would be:
Interviewer "You are planing on going back to nuclear power. Could you explain how energy that costs 40 cents per KWh (nuclear power) is supposed to be cheaper then energy that costs 17cent per KWh (wind power) to produce?"
Weidel "Did you even read our election program? Are you trying to frame me?"
