A term used in website development to describe constantly searching for and implementing
literally any new and interesting sounding library of code (usually javascript) they can find on the
internet because it's "cool".
It generally solves a non-problem that previously took 5 minutes to do by hand by doing it in 3 minutes, at the cost of alienating anyone unfamiliar it and taking several weeks to implement and an inordinate amount of time to maintain.
Young cool hip tech companies with names
like Wankr
love both writing and consuming these code libraries, which are often incomplete, buggy, poorly maintained, or constantly in need of upgrading as new versions come out.
Dude check out this code
library, it lets you show images on a website using 6 less keypresses!
Oh shit it's written by just one
guy, we should completely spend the next 2 months rewriting all our systems to use this.
*both developers fondle each other vigorously*
Project manager: Keep it in your
pants, I'm sick of all this pointless techwank
