Using good internet etiquette replies to such should point out the incorrect and or unsupported claims and correct them if at all possible. The use of SCOTD should be reserved to address reply comments ( commenter replies to an existing comment) that clearly indicate that the commenter doesn't understand the basic premise or are mixed up as to even what the intent of the comment is, or more rarely but also applicable have worded it so poorly as to make it appear that their statement is the opposite of their actual intent.
