The absolute best guys to have on your side. The registry team at universities are normally a bunch of massive nerds but they will always help you out if they can. They spend all day dealing with student data on databases so get WAY too excited when they get a chance to talk to a real life human. Also supply huge amounts of cake and peach rings to staff and students alike.
I needed a new ID card and Registry sorted me out

long gun registry

A list of legally owned rifles and shotguns so far costing Canadians over 2 billion dollars. This list does not include criminally owned guns, smuggled or illegal guns.

The first step towards creating a police state
Considering the long gun registry has not saved one life, prevented one crime or kept illegal guns out of the hands of criminals it has only one use. The confiscation of legally attained and owned property

Endorsed by the Canadian association of Police Chiefs as
life saving tool. It is actually used by the police to confiscate law abiding citizens guns in order to appear tough on crime.

The gun registry costs tax payers 40-60 million dollars a year.

The registry should not be confused with testing, licensing, and background checks as it is completely separate

trucker's tan

A sunburn or suntan focused on the left arm. It is caused by the left side of the body being the only half that gets exposed to sunlight while driving. Presumably, it would be located on the right side of the body in countries where they drive on the left side of the road.
I had a trucker's tan after driving for 10 straight hours on a sunny day.

British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”

Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
According to the boffins downstairs, the murderer used a serrated blade.
