Powerclipping

The act of cc'ing more senior people to an email thread in order to gain some form of recognition for your efforts. Desperate corporate types clambering up the greasy pole will exhibit this behaviour.

The powerclipper is usually not self-aware enough to use this in an ironic reflexive form, i.e. "I powerclipped senior management so they know how great I am"

Antonym: Powershedding - The emailer sees no need to cc'd everyone on the list so emails directly to the appropriate party. The emailer will usually exhibit high self-esteem.
Noun: "He's a powerclipper"
Verb: "Geez, he powerclipped me in on this banality; it's way below my pay grade"

Ann: "Why did I get this email from Bill?"
Colin: "He's powerclipping his way to the top."

Power Tripping

The abuse of administrative or moderation authority to dominate, punish, or humiliate others. Power tripping often involves selectively enforcing rules, banning users for minor or invented infractions, and demanding deference from community members. It is driven by the intoxicating effect of authority without accountability. Power tripping is a major driver of clique mentality: mods often build cliques around themselves, using bans to eliminate critics and reward loyalists. When a server or subreddit feels like a dictatorship, power tripping is likely the cause.
Example: “The mod banned anyone who disagreed with his favorite streamer, then posted in the staff channel about ‘keeping the community safe.’ Power tripping: authority as ego fuel.”

The word 'flag' as pronounced by people with thick Belfast accents. The term is a perfect encapsulation of the disproportionate and overblown reaction to the removal of the Union Jack (as in 'de fleg') from above City Hall in Belfast. Where previously it had flown for 365 days per year, it is now flown on 17 designated days of the year - in line with many other British cities.

The event caused a portion of the Protestant community ('fleggers') to make international pricks of themselves as they proceeded to wreck the fucking place, claiming it was another erosion of a 'British' identity they perceive to have been under attack since the horrifying spectre of equality reared its head in Northern Ireland.

The word 'fleg' - and indeed 'fleggers' - fittingly describes a section of humanity unconcerned with knowledge, reality or the vagaries of the English language. Like America's tea-baggers they are ruled by instinct, fear and paranoia with a side dish of rampant bigotry and startling ignorance of the world around them.
"Wat de fuck like! The taigs got de fleg took down! Let's wreck de fuckin place! No surrender!"

"De fleg has been took down! Before ye know it there'll be a united Ireland! Attack Short Strand! God Save The Queen!"
