An unofficial and entirely imaginary workplace or social position responsible for notifying individuals when their thighs are visibly
popping.
The thigh
pop compliance officer delivers these notifications in the same ordinary, matter-of-fact
tone used to inform someone that their zipper is down, their
shirt is untucked, or their collar is folded incorrectly.
The notification is not necessarily a criticism or compliment. It is treated as a routine observation concerning the current condition of the person’
s clothing.
In a workplace setting, a supervisor might casually tell a direct report that his thighs are popping immediately before discussing a project deadline, expense report, or upcoming client meeting.
The defining feature of the role is the complete absence of
surprise or embarrassment surrounding the announcement.
Supervisor: “Hey, before you head into that client meeting, your
shirt’s untucked.”
Employee: “Oh, thanks.”
Supervisor: “And your thighs are popping.”
Employee: “Understood.”
Supervisor: “Just doing my
job as the thigh
pop compliance officer.”
