to get overly excited about someone else doing something well.
if a boy is hyping up his girl he is being extra excited about how good she looks or how great she is.
boy: oh my god babe you look so good in that picture damn my girl is the hottest
girl: aw look friends my cute ass bf is hyping me up!
scenario 2:
girl: ya whatever i like your new shoes
1. Someone (especially a boy) who is swooned over and thought of in the most ideal and romanticised way by one and their friends due to the one's infatuation. Thus, being 'hyped'.
2. Someone (especially a boy) who is perceived by one as their happy chemical; that, when interacted with, will cause an emotional reaction, mainly excitement and exhilaration caused by chemical emissions of the brain.
The swipe hype is when you use an online dating app, such as: Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, etc. and you’re describing it to your friends. The idea is that since you’re swiping left or right, you get on a roll and are either matching with a lot of people or you are not. When you’re matching with a lot, you’ve hit the Swipe Hype.
“Hey man what are you doing on your phone over there?”
“Just hittin up that Swipe Hype to try and meet someone tonight!”
Ignore the media, marketing, buzz, or rumors around a story, object or person -- it's nothing special. From the 1988 Public Enemy single "Don't Believe The Hype", which fought back against negative press about the band.
"Is the new Star Wars movie any good?"
"Nah, don't believe the hype"
On the 45th episode of the Trash Taste Podcast (hosted by Connor "CDawgVA" Colquhoun, Joey "TheAnimeMan" Bizinger, and Garnt "Gigguk" Maneetapho), Gigguk describes his chronic condition of being indifferent when a highly-anticipated game (that he intensively follows for an extended period of time) is released. This leads him to coin a new term: "hype fatigue."
Attempt at a formal definition: when one's hopes and expectations in a game, show, or etc. transitions from a fanatic following into abject indifference when the final product is finally released.
Casual definition: getting so hyped that you eventually tucker yourself out and can no longer hype
"Cyberpunk2077 is coming out in 2 months! The development seems to be going well. I can't wait!"
(two months later) "Release date has been pushed back for another month. That's alright."
(one month later) "Another month. This game is gonna be sooooo good!"
(four months later) "... The game released. But I kinda want to play something else. Hype Fatigue is a bitch."
