Hot Water Bottle
The word originates from hot water bottle, and over time irish soldiers in WW1 said it so frequently that it shortened to howabottle, and then through further use changed to howabot.
At the time in WW1, irish soldiers used to drink tea from a howabottle, and it's during WW2 that howabots have been repurposed. At the time, thermos made an apparition into the Irish army material, and therefore howabots started to loose purpose. It's the woman in the infantry that decided to use howabots to soothe menstrual cramping and to warm themselves up.
