The Major (Hellsing)

Share definition Flag
The Major is a psychopathic Nazi Cyborg from the Anime Hellsing, despite being a 'Nazi', he shows no symbols of being one aside from the obvious Swastika, and the intentional burning of a Swastika into London (Hellsing) using refitted V1 and V2 rockets. His personality is that of Hell personified, he loves war, he does not care if he wins or loses, he wishes to stir up as much chaos and destruction as he can before his army is stopped.

The Major commands an army of 1000 Nazi Vampires and leads the group known as 'Millennium', a reference to the thousand year Reich. He also owns three gigantic badass zeppelins.

Having someone compare you to this character is NOT a good thing.
If by the off-chance someone has compared you to this character, PLEASE, and I cannot stress this enough, get some help.

Guy one : "Bro, you are so much like The Major (Hellsing)."
Guy two : "Yeah, I know, I love destruction and chaos."
Girl one : "Get some help." *To guy one*

Hellsing

Hellsing was originally a manga made by Kouta Hirano for the older, more darker form of the human being. The comic was originally eight volumes long, consisting of bloody, gory vampire action that involved the protaganist, Alucard (in Japanese, it's Arucard because of Engrish and such), a Nosferatu who hunts down those of his own kind, the undead. He meets with a police girl named Seras Victoria, who becomes a secondary protaganist, next to Alucard and is nomally a sex symbol for the kind of manga genre she is in.

Alucard is under the control of her master, Integra Wingates Hellsing, who is the leader of the Hellsing Organization, a group of undead hunters who's goal is to cease all earthy activities of those not of the undead classification. Now, there are also secondary characters like Walter, the Hellsing family's butler, and Paladin Alexander Anderson (in Japanese it's Paladin Alexander Andersong), as well as the Nazi organizations that seem to appear quite frequently in this.

There are variants of Hellsing, which include OVAs (original video animations) and the anime, which is thirteen episodes long.

It is disputed which ones are better, because many fans prefer the manga over the anime. The OVA is the anime-form of the manga exactly, but the anime is not anything like the manga at all.

Then were are things like "Hellsing: The Dawn" which feature much younger versions of Alucard and Walter as they fight the Nazis. That's when Walter is nicknamed "The Angel of Death" by Alucard. It is a highly recommended anime by those who like horror and such, but in reality, it's more of a thriller than a horror. There is a lot of swearing as well, as well as blood and death, so it is not recommended for children under the age of thirteen.

To learn more, actually reading the manga or watching the anime is also recommended.
"In the name of God, impure souls of the living dead shall be banished into eternal damnation. Amen." - Peter Farguson of the Hellsing Organization

Totally great anime of only 13 episodes. The main character is Alucard, a rogue vampire who serves a British organization (the Hellsing Organization) in killing the undead. He ends up changing a rookie police girl into a vampire to serve the Hellsing Organization, but before she can do that, she has to get over her new found thirst...
In the name of God, impure souls of the living dead shall be banished into eternal damnation. Amen.

"What a perfect night. It's the kind of night that makes me want to get a bite to drink." -Alucard

A darkly gothic anime series of Thirteen episodes. The main character is actually not Alucard, but Seras Victoria, who becomes a vampire in the first episode. Her attempts to retain her humanity are set against the backdrop of a full-scale secret war betweeen the Hellsing organisation and mysterious forces who are creating artificial vampires. Chuck in a few mad priests, vampire gangsters and a several very cool fights, and you have a surprisingly excellent anime series.
Thoroughly recommended, especially for fans of vampires or action anime. Not for younger viewers.

Hellsing

Hellsing is a Japanise manga, that was later animated into the Hellsing TV series which are more popular. The action happens is in modern England and it is about the Hellsing organisation dedicated to the extermination of vampires and the protection of Great Britain.
The manga and the anime are different story-wise and character-wise. For example the main characters in the manga are Integral Hellsing and Alucard, leaving Seras Victoria in the background, while the anime revolvs around Seras Victoria and her point of view about vampirism. Also Father Alexander Anderson has deeper personality in the manga than just a mindless killer as depicted in the anime.
Story-wise episodes 1, 2, 3 (the meeting with Father Anderson), 5&6 (the attack of the Hellsing HQ), and 10 (the flashback of how Alucard and Integral met) are close to the manga and the rest of the plot in the anime is totaly different.
Both the manga and the anime Hellsing are good. Buy either one of them (or both) and enter an amazing fantasy world!

Striver

The striver is an interesting phenomenon that is seen across college campuses. In essence, the striver is an over-achiever who comes from a working or middle class family. He may be an immigrant. He may have been a slacker in HS who was "born again" into an academic wunderkind. Or he may just be an over-achiever who is keeping at it.

The striver is willing to sacrifice his social life at the expense of Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. The striver is the guy who stays at the library long after you are gone. The striver is the guy who takes 30 credits/semester and considers anything below an A/4.0 failure. The striver doesn't work on campus, he is too busy finding ways to pad his resume instead of working retail or workstudy. The striver lets his grades pay his education by applying to ten scholarships a year.

The striver is a future Soros/Fullbright/Rhodes/Gates/Marshall/etc. fellow. The striver lives to study. For the striver, their fun comes from the rewards they expect to receive in return for their diligence. Be it Law School, B-School, academia, or politics. The striver seeks to find the American Dream through academic success.
Anthony was a striver. He transfered from a TTT to an IVY and graduated in 2 years. He studied his ass off and went to Penn Law. He got a Biglaw offer. But lost it all because of an unmoderated mesasgeboard.

Delta SkyMiles, also known as SkyPesos, is the frequent flyer program of Delta Airlines. It has a very poor value and hard to use.
- I'm trying to book an award flight to Paris, but I only have 70,000 SkyPesos
- Just forget about it, you don't have enough SkyPesos to fly anywhere.

Hate Draft

1. Select a player (real or fantasy) during a sports draft to spite or anger one or more of your opponents because they had intended to select him/her.

2. Select a player (real or fantasy) during a sport draft to put one or more of your opponents at a strategic disadvantage.
1. Billy hate drafted Chad OchoCinco because he knew Sam had wanted him since he is from Cincinnati. Billy already had plenty of players to fill that position but wanted to make sure Sam didn't get him.

2. Billy hate drafted Peyton Manning because he was the only good quarterback left and he knew Sam had been planning on drafting him.

Utility beer

Share definition Flag
Utility beer is the beer you keep around for the day-to-day moments when beer is a necessity to assist in pedestrian activities (golf, plumbing, yardwork, babysitting, staff meetings, Zoom calls). For the beer snob it is the beer you save for neighbors when they drop in at 3 p.m. on a Tuesday. It is differentiated from the actual high-end beer you save for special events, holidays, and special tastings.
Person 1: Dave, did you bring along those hazy craft IPA's so we could drink while cleaning Lyle's pool?
Person 2: Nope. I just have a bunch of utility beer that Steve dumped on me. Good enough for this. It is only 10:30 a.m.
