to embrace what is haram, or forbidden, and live a lifestyle of haram regardless of the consequences, especially as a form of rebellion against a conservative Muslim social group that is both oppressive and inescapable.

social groups in this case typically refers to non-Muslims or LGBT+ people living in countries where Sharia Law is in effect, but it can also refer to being born into a family that forces you or tries to force you into being Muslim or living a conservative lifestyle.
