A tree native to China; resistant to radiation and fire due to surviving the
Hiroshima attack. Also known as maidenhair trees.
It symbolises longevity as the tree can live for a thousand years and of a more profound endurance (four ginkgos survived the blast at
Hiroshima and are still growing today). They also carry singular
beauty and uniqueness due to their fan-shaped leaves.
Tsurugaoka Hachimangū, a shrine built in 2-1-31 Yukinoshita, Kamakura, Kanagawa, has a great stone stairway that leads up to a 1000-year-old ginkgo tree.
If someone is described as ginko it means they are: unique, beautiful or thick skinned.
It can also be used to describe someone who acts like they’re tough but in reality they’re very insecure or weak inside.
If something is described as being ginko it can mean: impossible, trash, too
