Germansplaining

Well-known cultural phenomenon in Europe in which a German-thinking individual (usually from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland) that you may have never interacted with before notices something distressing and promptly steps out of their comfort zone to 'help' , by systematically lecturing you on all the things that you are doing wrong about your life and all the things that you should and are not doing.

A non-verbal form of Germansplainin is also known as the GLOD (German Look of Disapproval)

"Some old man started Germansplaining to me while I was walking down the street"
"What did he tell you?"
"I don't know, I don't speak German"

Explanation of something by a German, typically to a Slav, in a manner regarded as condescending or patronizing.

- No, no, you don't understand. "Nein nein, Du verstehts nicht." You have to understand "Du muss verstehen", that we are telling you that you are wrong, because we know what is wrong and what is right, and naming it "Germansplaining" is wrong.

- Man, that is Germansplaining on a metalevel.

When Germans give unsolicited and often extremely superficial advice on complex sensitive issues not related to Germany to people of other nationalities, which they consider less developed than Germany.

When someone of an older generation (typically a Baby Boomer) condescendingly explains why you are doing something wrong, even though they lack the shared experience necessary to equate theirs with yours.

"You don't need to go into debt to attend college. Just get a part-time job like I did!"
