Melanated femicide is the
murder of melanated women and
girls by the hands of melanated men in their households who inflict nefarious acts of violence against the women in impoverished communities on a day to day basis. There's a staggering number of melanated femicide cases being reported and underreported that are just now beginning to see the light of day. Melanated women have the highest Femicide rates, which rival those of melanated men. There were 1,821 melanated women and
girls killed in
2020. That’s five women and girls a day. Melanated women are often killed by someone they know. Nearly a third of melanated women and girls in
2020 were known to be killed by an intimate partner or a family member, according to law enforcement homicide data reported to the FBI, and another
16% were killed by a friend, neighbor, or acquaintance. Melanated women who live in Wisconsin or
Michigan have a higher homicide rate than melanated women who live in Mississippi or Alabama; melanated women and girls homicides doubled in Wisconsin and
Ohio, rising from 21 to
42 in Wisconsin to 57 to 110 in
Ohio. the connection between melanated femicide and the melanin manosphere should be examined closely. There aren’t adequate policies or protective measures to address this crisis of melanated femicide. The belief that melanated women and girls are inferior is what leads to
death. The melanin manosphere contributes to this ideology.
Melanated femicide is the direct intent to kill women because they are women. It is the intent to
murder melanated women and
girls. Melanated femicide has many layers, including intimate partner violence and sexual violence. In
2020, at least four melanated women and
girls were murdered per
day in the
United States; this rate has increased significantly, according to FBI reports. Violence against melanated women and
girls is predicated on fallacies surrounding our value in society, and this discourse manifests online. The rationality of violence against melanated women is credited to the melanin manosphere, which proliferates spurious anti-melanated woman misogynist views that intersect with other misogynistic and
racist spaces. Thus, melanated femicide and the melanin manosphere are inextricably linked. As contradictory as it seems, there are melanin men who uphold far-right ideologies of misogynoir that's perpetuated through the melanin manosphere, specifically surrounding discussions of dating and pop culture. In particular, an occurring theme within the melanin manosphere is attaching masculine traits to melanated women with the purpose of excluding them from definitions of beauty and softness. The idea that melanated women and
girls are undeserving of protection has been a common perception since American slavery. As we enter new generations, this idea is transmitted in different ways, such as through social media.
