In Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, it is slang for an effeminate or outright gay men. It seems to be a transformation of the word Jarifo, which in Spanish means flam boy ant or showy.

A type of Greek sausage where it is deep fat fried rapped in sliced pickles and coconut.
