When you pretend to care about something, but actually you don't care.
Done usually to not hurt someone's feelings.

- The crap he was talking about was so boring, but he was so into it I decided to show some fakethusiasm to cheer him on.

To express joy for something you think you should care about, but don't really.

Man: "The Penguins are up 2-0 after the first period!"
Woman: "Ummm... Yayy?"
Man: "Well done! You fauxthusiasm is appreciated."
