Dumbledoring

To retcon a character in a work and make them represent a minority community of the creator’s choice all along, even if it wasn’t mentioned at all in the source material.

Named after the character Prof. Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series, when author JK Rowling announced that Dumbledore is gay without explicitly stating or hinting it in the source text.

Blizzard has been Dumbledoring many of their characters in Overwatch recently. First Tracer is a Lesbian and then Symmetra is an autist. Now words confirmed that Soldier 76 is gay.

Dumbledoring

The act of ret-conning a character or historical figure as being homosexual (or some other sexuality) after the fact for the sake of being inclusive or feeing included with little regard for any evidence to the contrary.

Disney has recently ret-conned Donald Duck as being trans. I’m tired of all this Dumbledoring going on.
