Chat & Cut

Cuts in line by appearing out of nowhere, striking up a conversation with someone just in front of you and, before you know it, is part of the line.
Larry David: See what she's doing there? It's called the Chat & Cut

Jeff: Chat & Cut really?
Larry: She's faining familiarity with someone she think he knows for the sole purpose of sole purpose of cutting in line

Group Chat Cut-off (gcco)

This is a phenomenon that occurs during group chat, when someone asks for an opinion/question, and then right when you say, "i agree" someone before you says another opinion, so the other people dont know who you agree with...
Group Chat:

Megan- Hey guys, do you think we should have a constitution? I mean, we're trying to create a fake project, I think its worth it.

Jack- I dont think it's neccessary

Vishal- I agree

Jack- with who?

Vishal- o dang. got Group chat cut-off (gcco) ... i agreed with megan.

Jack- oh. got it.

Chat and Cut

Coined by the comedic genius Larry David; the act of feigning sincerity with someone you barely know (and/or even like), and employing trite conversation, in order to cut into a line (i.e a buffet, movie theater, unemployment, etc.)
Do you see what's going on here? This woman is completely doing a Chat and Cut to get ahead in the buffet line.

A term used by documentary and unscripted post-production teams to describe an edit composed entirely of talking head segments—the "chat" component. This type of edit is typically crafted from a paper edit, which organizes transcript selections into a cohesive story structure. The chatcut serves as a foundational version of the narrative, focusing solely on interview-driven storytelling before layering in supporting visuals, B-roll, or other elements.

Origin: The term originates from the name of an editing software used by documentary teams to assemble dialogue-driven edits. Over time, Chatcut evolved into industry slang.
For example, the producer can ask the editor:

"can you export the chatcut so I can see if the story flows before we pull the B-roll and sound-ups?"
Translation: The producer needs to check if the narrative works as-is, without any visual distractions, to spot any holes or redundancies in the story arc.

Director in post-production hell: "The edit’s a mess. Let’s strip it down, and get a solid chatcut together before we waste any more time."

Editor to Assistant Editor: "The director sent over his paper edit. I need you to assemble a chatcut based on it—we need to get that confirmed before moving forward."

The grindset is a contemporary ideology of self-exploitation disguised as strength, deeply tied to the aesthetics of the “sigma male” and to new digital forms of patriarchy. It promotes the idea that human worth depends on productivity, economic success, absolute emotional control, and the ability to work endlessly, turning vulnerability, rest, community, and tenderness into signs of weakness. Beneath its rhetoric of discipline and power often lies a profound inability to relate healthily to pain, fragility, and human interdependence.
“That’s the grindset, brother. While weak men sleep and complain, sigma males stay disciplined, work in silence, suppress emotions, and build power while everyone else wastes time chasing comfort.”
