A term for "traitor" lifted from the Maldivian Dhivehi language.
Since the
February 2011 coup that removed democratically elected president Mohamed Nasheed from
office, the opposition frequently refers to the dictatorship and supporters as "baagee."
The term is coming into broader use thanks to social media.
"No Matter how
long these baagee Survives. They
will face Justice - Sooner or Later."
"You're as
bad as Sabu, the baagee!"
"Only a baagee would vote yes for #NDAA's indefinite detention of US Citizens."
