Wonderpunk

A retro-futuristic derivative combining qualities drawn from or analogous to cyberpunk or steampunk. Instead of overlaying past and future eras, it overlays childhood and adulthood, introducing nostalgic themes (games, book/movie references, themed-entertainment) with normally age-restricted settings, including driving. alcohol, sex, violence. Asking the question “what if your adulthood had happened sooner”, it maintains a ‘sandbox’ level of homespun creativity (ie low budget, common materials) with exceptional, sometimes technologically advanced, results.
“Steven built a set of mario karts out of lawn mower parts and AR gear for the playa this year. No joke, it spits virtual shells that spin you out if you get hit

“Whoa, Id get a fast pass to that wonderpunk ride in a minute.”
