A female character from an anime or manga made solely to pander towards male viewers for more profit. The shows these "waifu's" come from are mostly boring and below average romance animes that wouldn't have as much success if it wasn't for the likeness of their female characters.
ZeroTwo and Mai are the definitions of waifubait. Darling in the Franxx and bunny girl senpai are both garbage and hard to watch through without falling asleep. The only reason their popular is because of the horny and socially inept teenage boys who simp for the female mc's.

Refers to female characters in various forms of media, especially anime-related ones, who are primarily characterized by exaggerated romantic or sexual attributes. They are often designed to be as appealing as possible to the audience, with little to no development beyond these traits. Such characters are frequently seen in media like Gacha games, where they are more like products than fully fleshed-out individuals.
"Waifubait-chan is adorable! She's great at cooking, a gamer girl we can all relate to, and is so devoted to the MC!"
