it stands for "what in the middle part". it is a great substitute for wtf and omg. it originated from when someone gets a terrible looking hair cut paired with a middle part. now the word has grown and can be used express a surprised reaction. it can be used in reference to someone without a middle part. nowadays this term can be inserted into most situations do to how versatile it is.
