I think her volunteer work and frequent trips to Europe are a direct result of the Twitter effect.

Twitter Effect 

Explanation for a movie to have a shocking drop in the box office returns after one day in theaters. It used to be that it took a full week for word to get out on a film's poor quality, but with social networks now people seeing a film on its opening night can report instantly on the prospects of the title.

First seen with the comedy "Bruno", which had an impressive opening night, but then experience a drop of a stunning 39% on its second day of release. It was explained that word-of-mouth was happening instantly nowadays to explain the stunning loss of audiences. Recently seen with "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World", which had a heavy 25% drop on its second day in release.

The movie opened with an impressive Friday box office and was poised for a successful weekend, but then The Twitter Effect kicked in on Saturday and it is now looking like it could be a bomb.

The Twitter Effect 

When something unimportant is ovrhyped by the media until it reaches the mainstream, even though it adds nothing of value. Named after everyone and their mother decided to start using Twitter.

I am so sick of seeing MTV showing Kings of Leon music videos. They're such a mediocre band. Clearly, they're beneficiaries of The Twitter Effect.

The Twitter Effect is an effect of spending time on the named app. Symptoms often include getting upset over mundane topics, or attempting to accuse someone of being ableist. It is highly infectious.

Twitter Funnel Effect 

When two people on the Twitter platform have two contradictory opinions, only for someone to say that the same two opinions came from one entity; thus the person labeling that entity as a walking contradiction.

Person 1: Why is it that Twitter thinks that cats are great, but then says that cats are the worst creature on Earth?
Person 2: Dude, I think that’s just the Twitter Funnel Effect in play. Those are Tweets from two different people.
