An ironic, self-imposed title for the privileged hippies that came to gentrify Tulum Mexico.

They were the ones that posted instagrams of themselves dancing in "fire ceremonies" to shamanic house music on the beach while wearing mumus and doing K. They stayed in rooms that cost $1000 a night and "worked" as influencers who were just so #blessed to be there. Unfortunately, the tuluminati aesthetic was exposed in 2015 for gentrification and now #tulumisdead. But watch out, the tuluminati are still out there and on the prowl for a new beach town to overrun.

Tulumination 

Tuluminati refers to the crowd of people that come to Tulum for a week or two- even the season to show off, dress in their fancy capes and feathers, stay in a 5k a month penthouse in Aldea Zama, go to jungle parties, spend $500 a night in fancy hotels, and contribute to the problem by buying drugs and sniffing coke on the beach.

They are not interested in interacting with locals or learning about projects to give back- they are colonizers and consumers exploiting the indigenous, putting money in the pocket of the cartels, and look good in their fancy hats and kimonos while doing it.

In contrast, Tuluminated are those seeking higher truth- they attend ecstatic dance, yoga, workshops, crypto meetups, the occasional plant medicine ceremony. They typically live in La Veleta or Villas Tulum and are drug and alcohol free. They attend regenerative meetings, donate to local charities and host beach clean ups. They are here to build community, expand consciousness, and improve themselves along the way.

They organize events that bring community together and give back. They create discussions around sustainability, improving systems and building the New Earth.

The process of becoming Tuluminated is called Tulumination. The Tuluminatis can become Tuluminated by learning about the local culture and how to help the environment.

The actions are known as Tuluminating- spreading love and light and promoting events and projects that are doing good for the people and planet.
