Truth addict

Originally coined by the artist Zack De la Rocha from the song "Vietnow",
The song bashes right-wing Americans, which is what RATM are best at. Vietnow particularly focusses on right wing radio talk shows in America, like Rush Limbaugh for example.

From Genius:
"Well, I’m a truth addict, aw shit, I got a headrush"

This is a pun on drug usage and addiction. Kesha had ‘love’, Cobain had ‘heroin’, Winehouse had ‘alcohol’, Zack has truth. And all of this truth he is spitting is giving him a drug high.

Plato suggests in “The Republic” that the philosopher is always seeking the truth. By stating that he is a truth addict, Zack de la Rocha is saying he is a philosopher and not a Sophist, which were known to employ emotional persuasion not truth (like right-wing radio).

The term can also be used against the people who are right-wing extremists sarcastically and pejoratively.
Example 1
Guy 1: Jesus Christ, this country is full of lies and propaganda! there's always white supramacy and fascism everyday and corrupt politicians who abuses power and contribute nothing to their people
Guy 2: You are a Truth addict, my friend.

Example 2 (Pejorative)
Spencer: The earth is flat, 9-11 is an inside job, InfoWars and The Daily Stormer are the only real news, Holocaust is a myth, Jews poisoned wells, COVID-19 doesn't exist, and President Trump is the real democracy👌
Makhno: (sarcastic) Wow dude! You are a Truth addict.

Fogey/fogy /fougi/ sl. (early 18C+, orig. Scot) old-fashioned, stuck-in-the mud.
Person with old fashioned ideas which he is unwilling to change: Come to the disco and stop being such an old fogey!
You think me an old fogeyand an old tory, his thoughtful voice said. I saw three generations since O’Connel’s time. I remember the famine. Do you know that the orange lodges agitated for repeal of the union twenty years before O’Connel did or before the prelates of your communion denounced him as a demagogue? You fenians forget some things. (James Joyce, Ulysses. Penguin Books,1992. p. 38)
