sufferiority

A combination of superiority and inferiority, with an extra 'f' to convey the suffering it causes. The term describes a sense of pride and exceptionalism that is mixed with feelings of shame and inadequacy. Term coined by phychotherapist and author Charlotte Fox Weber in her book 'What We Want: A Journey Through Twelve of our Deepest Desires'.
"I believe I have something special, something extraordinary to offer, but I don't feel I am worthy of expressing it. I'm trapped in sufferiority."

"Caught in the grip of sufferiority, we can avoid addressing what matters deeply to us."
