Stargate Universe

Science fiction series set within the Stargate franchise mythology. More mature and serious in tone than it's predecessors, with higher production values it has been hailed as the saviour of the genre, the last remaining hardcore science fiction series on television and a departure from the shows it preceded, Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis respectively.

Garnering hate from a section of philistine supporters of the previous series' the show has found solace in critical acclaim and a more intelligence and thoughtful (if smaller) audience than the shows that preceeded it. The show has been praised by critics and scientists alike as it explores the human condition the way great science fiction should.

A true television masterpiece.
Did you see Stargate Universe last night? My mind it blown!

Stargate Universe

Canadian science fiction television production based on the parody of the "younger hip" Stargate as seen in Stargate Number 200. A mashup of teenage lust, marines in space, Battlestar Galactica film work with a slight Stargate mythology background added for marketing purposes.

First sci-fi show based on the claim, "Just keep watching it's going to get a whole lot better." First premium priced half-season DVD set to be released.

Notable as the first science fiction series to gather no positive reviews and a number of anti-fan sites. Most fans initially watched under the auspice, "I'll give it a chance" but soon checked out by Episode "Earth".

Will live on as the Spin the Stargate board game, based upon spin the bottle.
I had to hurl after watching Stargate Universe Shakey Cam.

They cancelled Stargate Atlantis to give us this dogshit?

Why do they call it Stargate Universe if they don't use the Stargate?

Stargate:Universe

Part of the Stargate franchise, where a group of scientists and military personnel unlock the ninth chevron of the Stargate while under attack from the Lucian Alliance, a organisation of criminals that filled the power gap left behind by the Goa'uld. The ninth chevron is dialed, and the evacuation takes place onto an Ancient ship called "Destiny". Exploring human nature and focusing more on the stressed inter-personal bonds of people stranded on a space ship billions of light years away from home, the show was met with great reviewes from critics, but according to some fans of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, failed to meet the legasy of it's predesesors. Sometimes this show is abbreviated to SG-U or SGU.
Fan of action and guns. "Dude, I hate SGU"
Person who can take entertainment from sources other than violence "Shut up. Stargate:Universe is a great show.
Over exited fan "I LOVE SGU!!!!!!"

Hate Sink

A person you hate intensely not because they deserve such hatred but because they serve as a focus for your general hatred. A healthy way to dispense with excess animosity.
Jake's not really that big an asshole. He just serves as my hate sink.

A toe rag was originally a foot wrapping used, since mediaeval times up until the mid-nineteenth century, to protect the foot from chafing by boots or shoes. As these were, quite literally, rags they weren’t usually washed, and so with use they became very smelly until they were thrown away. Because of the similarity in smell, toe rag also became the name applied to dried, salted cod or other things with a strong, unpleasant, fishy smell. It didn’t take that long before the name was applied to someone who was an obnoxious, unpleasant OIC.
1 “Socks! Those aren’t socks you smelly git, they’re toe rags!”
2 “What have you been cooking? Smells like toe rag!”
3 “I can smell ‘er fanny from ‘ere, proper toe rag.”
4 That Heale Malcolm is a right toe rag.

Eternity leave

When some resigns or retires from a job, they are on "eternity leave". This can also refer to someone who has passed away, especially someone who worked somewhere for a long time, retired/resigned, then passed away later.
Oh I'm sorry, you didn't know that Kelly is on eternity leave? She resigned and moved to Hawaii!

With regrets I would like to inform you that my boss is officially on eternity leave. I will never see or hear them again. Ever.
