Standard Time

The sense of time we used to experience, as we tried and failed to reclaim it on November 1, 2020.
She awoke on November 1, 2020, eight months into Covid world, four years in the Trumpian alternative universe, and found herself trying to name the daze of the week, wondering how many of them until November 3, 2020, when something or nothing might change, maybe a few months or hours, who could say, and was reminded that she was back on Standard Time. It sounded so nice. She was sure it used to mean something...

Words you can keep

Musician Standard Time (MST)

The time that all musicians keep to that make them function on a different timezone than other people : dinner at two am (after their gigs) go to bed at three am wake up after noon and have lunch at four pm. Repeat cycle.

The timezone that Musician WAGs have to adapt to in order to ever be able to spend some time with their boyfriends.
Best Friend: So why were you still online at two am?
Musician WAG: Oh, I was waiting for John to come over, you know how he is with his Musician Standard Time (MST)

Musician: Baby, I'll call you tonight ok?
Girl: Normal time or MST?

Haitian Standard Time

About 45 mins or an hour passed stated start time.

In the event that, a Haitian event is being thrown (Birthday party, Wedding, Church, etc...) it is normal for participants to arrive 45 mins to an hour late.

This was derived from EST (Eastern Standard Time) and adding 45 mins to an hour for late-ness

Party start time is suppose to be 4pm, Haitians arrive at 4:45 or 5pm because they run on HST.
Person 1: Dang! Church started and there's only 4 people in the audience!

Person 2: Yeah, dats that HST for ya!

Person 1: What?!

Person 2: HST, you know, Haitian Standard Time

Person 1: Lol!

Cell Phone Standard Time

The time that all cell phones have. (CPST) Much better than Pacific Standard Time, cause it fits in your pocket.
Bitchy Teacher: Robert, you are 2 minutes late to class! You should show up on time to class. You are going to get detention!

Robert: What the hell, Mrs. Cooper! It's only 8:59 Cell Phone Standard Time!

Bitchy Teacher: Oh, damn.

Ghanaian Standard Time

(alias G.S.T) Ghanaians throwing parties and everyone shows up 1-4 hours after a party has started.
Felicia: "My party started 3 hours ago where's everyone?"
Peter: "You know how Ghanaian Standard Time works!"

desi standard time

A timezone imagined by those of Indian Subcontinental descent, resulting in a time from 30 minutes to 3 hours past the actual time. Although DST may not be specified by a desi, one must assume this difference and add to the promised time accordingly.
Jane: "What time will you be over for dinner?"
Jaspreet: "6 or so." (desi standard time)
Jane: "Okay, I'll have things ready at 8:30 for you."

Mexican Standard Time

Giving an early time because you know everyone is going to be late anyways...
I told them to be there at 10 Mexican Standard Time because they are always an hour late and the soiree actually starts at 11.

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.

Sister: This meeting was to discuss the rough draft of my essay, where we discussed the subsidiary questions I added in my rough draft. We also discussed the relationship between my main title and the real-life situations I chose to use in my essay. We discussed the structure of my essay as well, specifically the Math AOK section and how it relates to the contradiction of the title. This second meeting was particularly helpful in discussing the implications of my essay claims and how to apply the title across various areas of knowledge. There were many sections of the essay that could have been cut down in wordiness and the ways of knowing required further and more in-depth analysis.
