Spam filter

Software that attempts to filter out spam email.
Spam filters work in several ways.

1) IP blocking; orginzations like Spam cop provide lists of IP numbers known to be used by spammers.

2) Word list; Spammers repeatedly try to sell the same stupid products so emails containing words like viagra, mlm, bigger penis, remove me ect; are blocked.

3) Heuristics; In an effort to get round spam filters spammers hire people that do have a brain to create more and more elaborate emails. Heuristics is a way using smart programing techniques to block these emails.

Spam filtering is an ongoing race between the spammer and the human race over who owns the inbox.

Helping your spam filter:
1)Never contact, buy from a spammer or click on a link in a spam email.
2)Turn of HTML in your inbox spammers have ways of knowing if a HTML email has been viewed.
3) Never click the on the remove me link in an email, spammers are liars and it will verify you as a live email address for more spam.

Spam Filter

A simple tool to make sure that any important e-mail that from a sender you have not previously whitelisted will be hidden from sight, while most of the emails that still make it to your inbox will still be spam.

A device that saves no one any time if you want to catch all of your important mail from non-white listed senders, because you still have to manually search through all of the spam to check for the important e-mails within.

If the post office implemented a similar spam filter, your tax refunds and stimulus checks would not be delivered and unless you went in person to the post office to check through your spam, it would be put into the shredder after 30 days.
- Sorry, I didn't get your e-mail because my spam filter blocked it.

- Thank you for calling tech support. You were sent the license key. Please check your spam folder and change your spam filter settings to whitelist us.
- My spam filter blocked the job offer letter I got from the company and when I called them back 5 days later they already filled the position.

Trauma from Reddit's Spam Filters

The specific, collective frustration and sense of injustice experienced by online community members when automated moderation tools (AutoModerator, site-wide filters) incorrectly delete their legitimate posts or comments. This "trauma" stems from the helplessness of arguing with an algorithm, the opacity of the rules, and the social death of being silenced in a space you care about.
*Example: You spend an hour crafting a helpful, rule-abiding answer in r/AskHistorians, citing sources. You hit "post." It vanishes. No notification. No reason. You message the mods (who are volunteers and may reply in 3 days). Silence. This is Trauma from Reddit's Spam Filters—the gut-punch of being rendered a ghost by a bot, transforming participation into a lottery and breeding chronic low-level distrust in the platform's infrastructure.*

God Shot

A chance happening with profound meaning, an unexpected blessing, a "sign".
Dr. Drew on Celebrity Rehab said "All of a sudden what had been just another Hollywood proposal became for him an unexpected blessing, an opportunity for growth. In drug recovery language, that's called a "God shot."

city chicken

A food native to Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvania in which cubes of pork and/or veal are put on a short, wooden skewer, breaded, then baked and/or fried.

I've heard that city chicken originated during the Great Depression, when folks didn't have enough money to buy full cuts of meat, so they assembled meat scraps on a wooden skewer, creating a make-shift drumstick. Hence the name.
