Much like Schrödinger's cat is both dead and alive until observed, these individuals are simultaneously idiots and the smartest people on Earth within their specific echo chamber. They deduce their own brilliance solely by observing their partner's ignorance, failing to realize they share the exact same intellectual limitations.
The term describes the "
box" mentality where participants cannot see past their walls or consider that anyone else exists. Because there is no external reality
check, their
confidence inflates indefinitely. They believe they possess unique enlightenment, unaware they are just trapped in a feedback loop of mutual validation.
