Proto-god

1. An unknown god (who isn't in mythology).

2. A being who is about to become a god or trying to become one.

3. The god from a culture that gods from other cultures originated from, (e.g. The Proto-Indo-European Sky God, Deus Pater from which Zeus originated).

'Dionysus used to be a proto-god when he was just a demigod, because he later became a god.'

protogod

From the greek prefix "protos" meaning "first" PROTOGOD would be the first, or primary god. often mistaken for a combination of "protoss" and "god" which refers to the RTS game Starcraft.

Protogod refers to one who is awesome, yet incomplete as an idea. a "proto"type if you will.
